where do you typically write your blog posts?
ummm usually in the living room of my house in the comfiest chair, but sometimes up in my room or in the kitchen?? it really varies depending on what time of day it is and if i’m watching tv at the same time??
ALWAYS ON MY COMPUTER. i haaatee typing anything longer than a couple sentences on my phone, so that’s ruled out. if i’m typing a blog post, i NEED a proper keyboard* or else it’s a no go and that blog post doesn’t get written. i’m picky about that.
*because i jammer sooo much and ALSO IT’S EASIER TO KEYBOARD SMASH ON THE COMPUTER.
how long does it generally take you to write a book review?
it really depends. if i feel strongly about a book (either LOVE IT or HATE IT), i’ll spend a couple hours ranting (and then editing out the incoherent-ness). if i’m thinking clearly and actually producing coherent thoughts, it takes me around 30 minutes to write a book review + time for formatting, coding, aesthetic-ing, gif-ing, etc, etc.
when did you start your book blog?
i started my blog at the veeeery end of october 2016 when i decided that i was DESPERATE to talk about books with someone. family, if you’re reading this, i love you, but talking about books with you is like talking to a wall. sorry. making this blog was a REALLY GREAT DECISION if i do say so myself. flailing about books with likeminded people is completely awesome.
i’m coming up on my one-year-blogaversary!!! it feels completely crazy to me that i’ve been doing this for an entire year. WOOHOO prepare for an ice cream celebration
and maybe a giveaway whaaaat i didn’t say anything don’t mind me.
what is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
EVERYTHING TAKES FOREVER ARGHHH. and it takes so much effort. we book bloggers have to do a lot of Things™ to keep everything running smoothly and seemingly effortlessly such as:
- write AND FORMAT (#struggle) the darn blog posts.
- respond to comments (so much fun but takes a looong time)
- comment on other people’s posts
- make your blog theme ~aesthetic~ and pretty and easy to navigate
- blog-hop and discover new blogs to grow our connections
- READ BOOKS + REVIEW THEM
- take aesthetic pictures for the blog and social media
- blog header images. this is a separate category for me because it. takes. forever.
- MORE SOCIAL MEDIA
- wow lots of other things that take a long time
also my archives are really bad.
seriously my first posts are so cringy don’t look at them
what is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
most definitely the community. everyone is so kind and supportive here, much more so than social media or goodreads. even when there’s disagreement, it’s a polite disagreement and not an I HATE YOU BC YOU DON’T AGREE WITH ME type of disagreement (*cough* goodreads *cough*) comments are so much fun to get, and it’s nice to see feedback from other bloggers!
i’ve made some amazing blogging friends, many more than i have on other social medias. i have a feeling that we’re all so close here in the blogosphere because we spend so much time on our blogs and it’s easy to relate with all our craziness.
what blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
my melodrama book recommendations post! i loved talking about two things i adore so much: books and music. it was soooo much fun to pick out lyrics from the songs that matched the book recommendations, and i cannot wait to do more of this type of post in the future! (maybe next week??) also, i listen ed to the album on repeat while writing the post, so that’s always a plus.
also, i ranted about the problems with ya fantasy, which was suuuper satisfying. in general, i like ranting about things.
i also love writing monthly wrap-up posts! i find it really nice to reflect on the past month and remember what happened while also looking forward to the month ahead and set some goals!
what is your favorite type of blog post to write?
as you can probably tell, i love making lists. it makes me feel more organized, and it’s an orderly way to show a large number of books, things i love, etc. it’s also a good opportunity to use a lot of ~aesthetic~ watercolor graphics which is always nice. i always feel more organized after making a tbr list post!
i also like discussions and rants (although i don’t do them as often as one might hope). i love seeing how you guys’s opinions and viewpoints differ from mine and also reading your comments!
when do you typically write?
ummm late at night right before i’m supposed to upload a post?? i try to schedule my posts well in advance, but during the school year, this doesn’t always happen, and i end up writing posts a day or two before they are meant to be uploaded. the time of day that i write posts is always different!
recently (bc it’s been summer for me) i’ve gotten better about scheduling posts so that i’m not so stressed about it, but i’m not sure how everything’s going to go when school starts…
do you review every book you read?
HAHA NO. i’m so bad about this i used to try to write a full review for every single book i read aaaand then i got tired of this and stopped. i sometimes write a smol list of things i liked/disliked, but i don’t do this nearly enough. that’s kind of my new goal: at least write a small review of all the books i read!
how do you write your book reviews? with a cup of coffee or tea? with Netflix? cuddled with your fur baby?
i wish i was that aesthetic when writing my book reviews with coffee and puppies and what not, but sadly no. i sometimes listen to music when i’m writing or put on a tv show in the background that requires little concentration, but usually, it’s just me, my thoughts, and my computer.*
*wow i sound very lonely and sad
when do you write your book reviews? right after finishing the book? two weeks after finishing the book?
right after i finish the book, or NEVER mwahaha.
you see, friend, right after i finish a book, i immediately start another. ergo, i don’t remember what the heck that book i read two weeks ago was about, much less what i liked/disliked about it*. yes, i’m a forgetful little bean. no, i will not change.
YASSS THE PERFECT GIF
*only slightly exaggerating
how often do you post?
wellll, that depends. usually 2-3 times a week, on monday, wednesday, and saturday. but sometimes that gets messed up because of monthly wrap-up posts that get posted whenever they want to, and sometimes there are just random posts on random days. and sometimes, school takes over my entire life, and i post once a week or not at all?? that’s when you know things are going majorly wrong. I LOVE SCHEDULES WITH MY ENTIRE BEING <3
it all just depends what else is going on my life and my current stress levels.
and any of you guys who want to do it! just because i didn’t tag you, doesn’t mean i don’t want to see you do it 🙂
