and there goes january. gone. poof.
honestly, it was pretty long. FIVE !! whole mondays. post winter break sluggishness. getting back to the grind of school. and now that i’m looking back on it, the first week of 2018 seems like a whole year ago.
i don’t know how i’m feeling yet about 2018, but this is only january, and i have eleven more months to form an opinion and shape my year.
ok so this month was actually crazy good for reading, considering how busy i’ve been?? i read EIGHT BOOKS which is pretty amazing, and now i’m ahead of my goodreads challenge by four books.
the first book of the year! a really quick read and so interesting. it gave me a lot of insight into history of the lgbt community.
i read this on a snow day, and enjoyed it fairly well, but i was kind of not expecting it to be like this??
binge read this on the same day as TFC. OH MY GOD IT WAS AMAZING (and very unrealistic) BUT THE TRAUMA AND ANDREILLLLLL
ANDREILLLLL I LOVE IT BUT WHY ISN’T RENISON CANON. such a good conclusion.
AMAZING. so well written (except for the first 100 pages), and i love the footnotes. i’m not so sold on the ship between Mia and Tric tho.
i read this in one night, as well as watching the movie, and i love them both. the characters are so strong, and the whole book is so raw & telling. and Ezra Miller as Patrick is the best thing ever.
HAHA NO. i know a lot of people love this book, but a) it’s so dern short that i couldn’t even get attached to the characters and b) the pacing and plot were extremely weak in my opinion. it’s a no from me. (also, i thought gen was a girl the first 50 pages)
welp i read this one about five years late, but it was pretty good. i think Younger Madeline would have enjoyed it more.
i read a bunch of amazing books this month, there’s no doubt, and i think that Nevernight, The Perks, and All for the Game might even make it to my yearly faves?? who knows.
A Little Life by Hanya Yanigahara (pfff this is like 800 pages and it’s gonna take forevaaa)
Thunderhead by Neil Shusterman (ahhh the highly anticipated sequel of Scythe!!)
The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black (to precede my reading of the Cruel Prince. also it was on sale for 2.99)
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (everyone’s screaming about it)
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (a reread to precede my viewing of the movie and to generally comfort me)
this was an ok month of blogging, but i already broke my goal of posting two times a week. i might change it to one? (until the summer, at least) i had a lot of fun writing my posts for the beginning of 2018 though!!
also, i’m pretty sure that i’m now contributing to the Stay Bookish Zine as a designer?? stay tuned for more info.

ehhhh school. that’s all that’s been happening this month. back to the grind of homework and running. i can feel that i’m on the verge of the mid-winter (post break) slump, but hopefully i manage to keep morale high.
i’ve been having an issue with a stress reaction/fracture in my shin this month, so that’s a boo on the running front. it got to the point where it was hurting to walk around at all, but fortunately, i’ve been feeling a little better recently. i really hope it goes away so i can improve my race times and workouts.
my bday is next month (feb 25 GET STOKED) !! i’ll be sixteen (and technically allowed to get my driver’s license). this is so weird because i remember wrapping up january last year and saying it was almost my birthday then.
**UPDATE** don’t even know how i forgot this, but i cut a lot of my hair off! by myself, in the bathroom on a pretty random friday night. that could’ve turned out badly in so many ways, but i actually really like the way it turned out!!
beforeeee: shaggy and unruly
after! still unruly but more manageable
